𝐄𝐧𝐠𝐥𝐢𝐬𝐡 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐌𝐚𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐬 𝐭𝐞𝐚𝐜𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐬 of the 𝐆𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐨𝐫 𝐅𝐞𝐫𝐫𝐞𝐫 𝐌𝐞𝐦𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐍𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐇𝐢𝐠𝐡 𝐒𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐨𝐥 (𝐆𝐅𝐌𝐈𝐍𝐇𝐒) strengthened their assessment knowledge and skills during the first day of the 𝐒𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐨𝐥 𝐋𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐀𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐂𝐞𝐥𝐥 (𝐒𝐋𝐀𝐂) 𝐨𝐧 𝐀𝐥𝐢𝐠𝐧𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝐂𝐥𝐚𝐬𝐬𝐫𝐨𝐨𝐦 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐍𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐀𝐬𝐬𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 held earlier today, 𝐀𝐮𝐠𝐮𝐬𝐭 𝟓, 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔, via Google Meet.
The session aimed to strengthen classroom assessment practices in line with DepEd Order No. 015, s. 2026, particularly in developing assessments that reflect learning competencies and the critical-thinking skills measured in national assessments.
Discussions on 𝐏𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐜𝐢𝐩𝐥𝐞𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐀𝐬𝐬𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐋𝐢𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐲 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐍𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐀𝐬𝐬𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐚𝐭 𝐚 𝐆𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞, led by 𝐌𝐬. 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐥𝐲𝐧 𝐎. 𝐃𝐢𝐥𝐨𝐲, Teacher VI, and 𝐌𝐬. 𝐌𝐞𝐫𝐜𝐲 𝐈. 𝐁𝐢𝐬𝐚𝐲𝐚𝐬, Master Teacher I, deepened teachers’ understanding of developing fair, valid, and learner-centered assessments. The sessions also highlighted the role of assessment in monitoring learner progress and providing timely feedback to support continuous learning.
Teachers further explored 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐀𝐫𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝐈𝐭𝐞𝐦 𝐖𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐂𝐥𝐚𝐬𝐬𝐫𝐨𝐨𝐦-𝐁𝐚𝐬𝐞𝐝 𝐀𝐬𝐬𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐏𝐈𝐒𝐀, focusing on the characteristics of quality PISA-like items and their alignment with learning competencies and cognitive demands. Through breakout sessions, participants analyzed sample assessment items and identified common pitfalls in test construction.

Through the SLAC, GFMINHS continues to strengthen teachers’ assessment practices and equip them with the skills to develop meaningful, learner-centered assessments that support improved learning outcomes and better prepare Ferrerians for classroom-based and national assessments.
